Shiva Circle: Atlanta Shiva Guide Training (March 31)

Shiva Circle by Shomer Collective

Have you ever thought about supporting people during one of the most important and sensitive times in their lives? After the death of a loved one, many people want the comfort of Jewish rituals like shiva — but they aren’t sure how, or perhaps they don’t have the support network they need to make it happen.

You can help. Shiva Circle will train you to be a trusted resource when a death happens.

Shiva Circle is a new project bringing together the Atlanta Jewish community. By training volunteers – like you – to become Shiva Guides, we’re making the ritual of shiva more accessible and helping more people feel held by Jewish tradition and community.

At this one-day, in-person training you will:

  • Deepen your knowledge of Jewish mourning traditions (no experience necessary!)

  • Explore how to create circles of support so no mourners have to grieve alone

  • Build relationships with a community of volunteer Shiva Guides

After the training, you’ll be ready to guide people in your own networks, or in the greater Atlanta Jewish community when they are mourning. And the Shiva Circle team will be here to help – with accessible resources and lots of opportunities to ask questions.

Date: Monday, March 31
Time: 10am - 3pm
Location: Congregation Etz Chaim, 1190 Indian Hills Pkwy NE, Marietta

Note: A duplicate training opportunity is being held March 30 at the Marcus JCC.
